Product Description

The Cellular Auto Dialer (CAD-03) provides an easy do-it-yourself security solution. The rugged construction of the control panel/dialer allows the system to be used at construction sites, in vehicles and other areas that are difficult to monitor. The dialer uses the GSM cellular network to send a voice message to up to nine different phone numbers. The dialer can be programmed with entrance/exit delay and will be triggered by various wireless sensors or a tamper alarm. Kit includes: Cellular Auto Dialer; One Wireless PIR Sensor; One Wireless Shock Sensor; AC Power Adapter; Back-up Battery Pack; Hard-sided carry case ***the kit does not come with a GSM card. You will need to get a GSM Sim card from a mobile carry. This Sim card allows the dialer to call the numbers you program in and not have to connect it to a hard wired phone line. *** System cannot be monitored by a central monitoring station

1Glitchy programming and not durable.
By rmoore
Well, it's a great idea, if it was easy to program and really was "RUGGEDIZED".Purchased this for it's portable security and liked the idea of using a GSM means of contacting my cell as a warning. Here's how my experience went.Supplier took over a month to get the item shipped out. Stated it was backordered. Called them directly and it finally showed up.Requires a GSM card installed BEFORE setup so I went with a T-Mobile, pay-per-minute card. Made mistake of going into a local T-Mobile with the Dialer in the HOPE I could test it out before putting $ into a SIM card. NOPE! They did recommend I go with the cheapest plan ($10) + $10 to activate the GSM so add $20 to the cost of the Dialer.NOW the fun part. The first thing I noticed when I took the dialer out of the plastic case was how lightweight it was. Although it may "look" ruggedized in the pic, in reality, it feels and looks like toy. Very lightweight and doubt it would take a drop.Next CON: Programming the unit is a royal PITA. First, the manual is JUST OK leading you thru the steps of setting up the unit, PIR, and motion sensor. Therafter is when the fun begins. Commands are written such as Passcode >ENTER>Program>3>Enter>1 (first no to dial)>phone no>ENTER>.This type of dialog covers about 10 command programs throughout the booklet. The problem is that the dialer is glitchy at the ENTER key. In nearly all steps I would have to repeatedly press the ENTER key (variable number of times) to move to the next entry. This occurs within each step and obviously throughout program dialog steps. Most of the time it was difficult to know if an ENTER press was accepted and I could move on. NO confirmation of step or protocol completion and NO method of reviewing the program.Sounds confusing.....RIGHT! A real nightmare trying to get each sequence in correctly and there's a t least 9 steps if you want to do it right. After all this work, thinking I had programming handled. I armed the dialer and set-off the motion sensor. Dialer would not dial out.Showed a "no answer" icon almost immediately. Repeated programming steps, to no avail.Contacted Seller, then Manufacturer who weren't much help other than stating the 3G SIM should work (which I initially suspected as incompatible), since the unit was Manufactured in 2009 and I had seen comments from Buyers regarding marketed, obsolete, "home" GSM security systems that required 2G SIM's.Without a T-mobile phone I could not check the SIM to assure it worked so I called T-Mobile who stated all was fine with account and card. Other than this "supposed" assurance, T-Mobile was of NO help.THE SOLUTION: After a week of fooling with this thing, I decided to completely erase all functional programming according to the directions. I was nervous about this with concern it might erase the default passcode....then I'd be done. After erasing, I reprogrammed only the VERY basic functions. Voice, 1 phone number, 1 alarm, no SMS and no other frills, and got it working.Suffice to say we will see for how long and how durable??Couple of notes: T-Mobile SIM is all I purchased so if you want to reload the SIM online you're going to need a phone for it. The GSM dialer does NOT accept calls/texts and when you go online (T-mobile) to activate an account, they ask for your phone number, send you atext, and expect you to enter the code. No can do with SIM and dialer. T-Mobile Tech Support had no way of activating online account any other way and person I talked with had NO CLUE what a GSM dialer was...couldn't understand why I could not get a text...moron!ONE OTHER THING: Note this dialer needs 12V POWER and will NOT operate, for more than a few hours, on the rechargeable AA battery pack, in the case. This is either provided by a 12V AC transformer or by using clamp (jumper style) cables to a 12V battery. No details on battery size, fuses, etc that should be used. Question on this to Manufacturer by email....no response.I'll see how long it lasts....certainly not worth the price paid.Tme consuming, expensive and, overall, miserable experience.
